Security

Protective security details across Iraq.

Registered to provide PSD services with licensed partners across Iraq — thousands of missions run for numerous direct and indirect clients.

BSA Trading is registered to provide, together with licensed partners, PSD services across Iraq, and has run thousands of missions for numerous direct and indirect clients since inception.

The configurations of our PSDs are designed to meet the specific task being undertaken and can vary in size, personnel and type of vehicle. As a baseline, however, we work to specific standards.

Experienced operators

Our Iraqi operators typically come from the Iraqi security forces, have received continuation training from us and have had background checks conducted with the Ministry of Interior and Iraqi Security Forces. In most cases they have worked with us for years and bring both language and cultural expertise. The Iraqi commanders are high-ranking ex-military from the Iraqi military and police forces.

B6-level armoured vehicles

The majority of our missions are conducted in factory-fitted B6-level armoured SUVs, with integral ballistic steel and windows and hermetic cabin protection with complete material overlapping. B6 SUVs offer protection from blast and small-arms fire, and run-flat tyres are fitted as standard. Each vehicle is equipped with full self-recovery capability, including a tow rope rigged for rapid use, suitable jacks, axes, sledgehammer, crowbars and other means of manual extraction.

Communications

Our communications solutions use equipment selected to withstand the harsh environment of rural Iraq while offering flexibility and durability. It has a standard one-year warranty and spare parts are readily available in Iraq. We can also provide local support and maintenance contracts for client operations in Iraq, ensuring smooth operation of mission-critical communications.

  • Operations centre to teams — a repeater combined with our standard VHF radio covers distances of 50 to 100 km.
  • Inter-vehicle — reliable communication between teams with the currently issued equipment.
  • Interpersonal — every security team member carries a personal radio when dispersed across a site.
  • Back-up — Thuraya and GSM phones on local networks ensure full redundancy.

Vehicle & team tracking

We employ Track24 and Astra tracking systems. All devices are monitored 24/7 by each system’s operations centre and provide users with an alerting facility. When triggered, a device initiates an immediate phone call to our centre establishing two-way voice communication, and simultaneously generates a GPRS/SMS message to our infrastructure.

In the northern region, primary monitoring is provided by our Regional Operations Centre in Erbil, which assumes responsibility for first-line response along pre-determined lines should an incident occur.
